Encouraging & very effective. Maths PhD. 15 yrs exp.

£50 per hour
    Bloomsbury, Central London

The time and energy put into teaching is very important. Especially in mathematics, motivating the subject, making it accessible, encouraging communication and approaching it with enthusiasm are all crucial aspects which cannot be ignored.
Here's some feedback from my private tutoring and university teaching (tutorials) over the years:
"My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Amna - Maths has become one of her strongest subjects." Allyson Slade year 7 Maths.
"She was excellent, her teaching skills were really good. My daughter learned a lot from her!" Amal Ajang for GCSE Maths.
"Amna explanation of maths helps understand principles and also she is very friendly" Hamad Alshammari for University-level Maths via skype.
"Tutorials should last longer, this is the only time I learn and understand this course. I will never miss a tutorial." University tutorial student (anon).
"Explains logic without ruining/spoiling the difficulty of the logic." University tutorial student (anon).
"Works well as it’s a better pace than the original teacher meaning I can choose my homework answers in class with their examples." University tutorial student (anon).

After achieving my Master's degrees I spent two years in banking. First working for a bank then a hedge fund before starting my PhD.

Tutoring / Teaching Experience

Since I was 15 I have been tutoring in Mathematics and the Sciences. Anything from primary school level to undergraduate degrees.
During my PhD, outside of private tutoring, I have also had extensive experience (2-5 hours a week) of teaching undergraduate supervisions (approx 10 students, lead demonstrator), examples classes (approx 30 students, as both lead and assistant demonstrator) and service courses for non-mathematics students (approx 30 students, lead demonstrator).

My daughter has been exceeding her classroom test target each week after she started with Amna: never less than 46/50. Before she would struggle to reach 30/50. I enjoy hearing my daughter make sense of things - each lesson I hear her go 'ohhhhhhh yeah!' and she enjoys every lesson with Amna. I really appreciate the fact that Amna is very encouraging.
