PhD in Microbiology! Passionate about teaching
I am a firm believer of "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough".
I hold a PhD in Microbiology and throughout my studies, I have been a tutor and a supervisor to a number of students.
My teaching approach has been always customized to the needs of my student. The most important aspect for me is to engage the students and make them curious about the subject so that when the class is over they will continue to look for more information. The success of my students is my ultimate goal.
Tutoring / Teaching Experience
I have been tutoring and supervising undergraduate students, helping them to excel in science.
Tutoring experience:4 years
Suitability for tutoring
I first met Evelina as her personal MSc academic tutor and then as the coordinator of the Marie Curie EU Programme ANTIBIOTARGET under which she did her PhD. During that time, I had the opportunity to follow very closely her research and was very much impressed with her determination to pursue an academic career in science. She is an excellent molecular biologist, with great immunology skills and has extensive experience in the study of microbe host interactions for which her publication records can testify.
She has excellent written skills and I am aware that during her PhD she worked very independently and drafted all her research publications. She was also a great team player and was very well respected by her peers. During the ANTIBIOTARGET program I had the opportunity to listen to several presentations given by Evelina, always in English, which were always extremely clear and well-polished. I also know that during her PhD and her time in Groningen she was involved in the supervision of other research students in the laboratory which is something she very much enjoyed.
I have no doubts Evelina will be a great tutor for home tuition.
