I am Jaime Balladares, an Educational Psychologist finishing my PhD in Education (UCL Institute of Education). I have taught in private lessons for a long time. My areas of expertise are: Spanish, Statistics, and Psychology (particularly Education and Development). I am also a guitar player, so you can learn to play guitar.

Tutoring / Teaching Experience

Even though I am not a teacher, as an Educational Psychologist I have devoted my work to study the learning processes, and particularly to study how they can be more efficient. I started to work as part-time teacher on 2007, and my students have reached very good results.

Suitability for tutoring
Any researcher who needs to interpret Scientific evidence should to be aware of the statistical difficulties associated with such interpretation. Many researchers receive little formal training in statistics yet have to make use of information derived in one way or another from data, and they themselves may also have to perform statistical analysis. I am now a final year PhD student at University College London. I am studying the organization of the lexicon in children with language and literacy disorders. I spent one year collecting my own data but statistical analysis and in particular interpretation of your own data is a very demanding and challenging task. It was difficult for me to decide what statistical analyses to conduct in order to address directly my research questions and why. Teaching and explaining statistical concepts is challenging. My tutor proved to be very knowledgeable and helped me to understand applied statistics concepts by speaking a simple language I could understand well. He offered me insight into strengths, limitations and biases of potential statistical analyses and why I should choose the one over the other analysis. He helped me a lot with difficulties I had with Excel too. He is also a very positive and kind person who listens carefully your questions and answers properly. I have now finished with the Results chapter of my thesis and I feel very confident with the analyses I have chosen being ready to offer to my examiners a good rationale for any decision I took. Reading papers and books in Statistics is helpful but when it comes to analysing your own data you need a good tutor.
