Qualified Teacher of Secondary English
My passion for teaching stems from my undying willingness to inspire young minds every day – regardless of background, competence or educational need. Currently a trainee teacher of English, I have worked in a variety of schools in different capacities and contexts - my most relevant and recent post (prior to my current position) being a Cover Manager and SEN Teaching Partner at a school in South London.
Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in English Language, this has proved to be beneficial to my teaching practise as I have been able to implement and embed my knowledge into lessons, which in turn has had a positive effect on the whole school literacy initiative which has recently been introduced. As teachers of English may usually come from a literary or dramatic background, I feel as though my knowledge will be highly beneficial to a department where there is a dual focus on allowing students to explore language and its functions, but also learn to appreciate the rich literature we are lucky to have been exposed to.
In my current position, I am a tutor for a Year 8 class, as well as teaching across two Key Stages (Years 7, 9 and 11), with a KS3 focus on building GCSE skills and a KS4 focus on demonstrating these skills – with a shift to the new 9–1 syllabus.
