An inspirational Science and Maths tutor, PhD in Physics

£58 per hour
    Hampstead, North West London

Welcome to my page,

I am passionate about Science, Physics, Mathematics and teaching students. I hold a PhD in Physics from Imperial College London, and I have fifteen years experience in academia working as a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at top universities including at Harvard Medical School.

I have been working as a private tutor for seventeen years since I was a graduate student. I have taught a wide range of student’s levels ranging from KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-level, undergraduate to mature researchers and adults. I also work as an academic coach to MSc and PhD students.

I love Science and Technology, and I was for many years a Science Ambassador at Imperial College London and promote Science via STEM activities at schools in London and Europe.

I am a very enthusiastic and friendly tutor who understands student’s weaknesses. I adapt my tutoring style to cover my student’s needs and help them boost their confidence and reach excellent results. I am a passionate teacher with high interpersonal skills who tries to explain the complex and challenging contexts with engaging examples and easy to understand way.

All my students have reached their goals and are very pleased with my methodology, educational approaches and experimental demonstrations.

Thank you for reviewing my profile.

Best wishes,

Mary is an inspirational teacher who takes time to understand her students' specific requirements and tailors tutoring sessions accordingly. She is extremely responsive to her students' demands and has been a great teacher for my son in high school. She has been instrumental in his grades improvement, as well as increasing his interest in Mathematics and Physics. There have been many instances where Mary has provided support at extremely short notice, sometimes even over the phone. Please feel free to contact me if you need specifics; I have no reservations in recommending Mary for tutoring roles.

I would highly recommend Mary as a tutor in maths and science. She is tutor to my 10 year old son in maths and has transformed his understanding and enjoyment of maths so much so that he now loves the subject. Mary has a very positive and supportive attitude and is very patient and caring. However, she also has high standards and my son works in a very focussed and applied way in her sessions. Consequently my son's confidence in this subject has grown enormously. Mary also discusses scientific ideas with my son so he is also learning to apply maths and think creatively. Miraculously he has also managed to learn his times tables with Mary. I couldn't recommend Mary more highly as a tutor. Esther Jeapes
