    Canterbury

I am an avid reader and writer, and a passionate interlocutor of English Language and Literature in academia and everyday life. While I specialise in teaching Modern Literature, my knowledge extends from Ancient Greek and Roman Classics to Shakespeare, Romantic Poetry, the Short Story, Children’s Fiction, and contemporary lyrics.
In 2012, I received a full scholarship for reading Comparative Literature at the University of Kent, where I completed my doctorate earlier this year. I have taught at Kent as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, then Assistant and Associate Lecturer in Comparative Literature, with modules including Classical Literature, Childhood and Adolescence in Modern Fiction, The Tale, and The Sonnet. I have also worked as Postgraduate Ambassador for the School of European Culture and Languages, organising an A-Levels English Skills Day on interpreting and connecting texts, which I enjoyed doing very much.
Prior to this, I worked as a teacher of English since 2010 at various levels, from 6th standard to BA level. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) and am registered as a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Having decided to get into permanent teaching in English language and literature, I believe that I will add an expert international dimension to the local educational system in the UK.

Dear sir/madam at Impact Tutors, I am delighted to be given the opportunity to provide a reference letter for my colleague Dr Thirthankar Chakraborty. During his PhD studies at the University of Kent, he has taught on the Comparative Literature programme since September 2013. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about his subject, and has a wide knowledge of literature: from the Ancient Greek Classics to Twentieth and Twenty-First century literature, which is reflected in the modules he has taught over the years. Some of his responsibilities at the University included conducting weekly seminars, marking essays, and providing feedback. He has also worked as Postgraduate Ambassador and has a good knowledge of A Levels English curricula. Apart from his academic qualities, I would also like to mention that Thirthankar is a gregarious person and I am sure the students will be able to relate to him very quickly and learn from him. I have thus no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor. I hope this is fine but do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries. With all best wishes Dr Angelos Evangelou Associate Lecturer in Comparative Literature University of Kent, UK

I have known Thirthankar since his days at Durham and he is a very competent and dedicated Tutor. His original and dynamic techniques of classroom teaching have helped me re-evaluate my own methods of imparting knowledge in and outside of the classroom. I highly recommend him!
